Antoni Horst Memorial Lectures 2019

On 11 June 2019, as part of a series of lectures entitled Antoni Horst Memorial Lectures, Prof. Dr. Mieczysław Chorąży gave a solemn lecture entitled: “About the complexity of the phenomenon of life”.

Prof. Mieczysław Chorąży (born 31 August 1925 in Janówka), oncologist, member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, long-term head of the Department of Cancer Biology at the Oncology Centre in Gliwice, branch of the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Institute. He was one of the pioneers of research on environmental mutagenesis and molecular epidemiology. He made a significant contribution to the research on DNA and chromosome damage in the inhabitants of industrial and municipal centres in Silesia. Winner of many state awards and distinctions.

At the end of the ceremony, which was attended by many distinguished guests, the Director of the Institute presented Professor Antoni Horst with a commemorative statuette with the image of Professor Antoni Horst.
