Director of the Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences  (IHG PAS) announces an open competition for the position of Head of Independent Research Group of Non-Coding Parts of the Genome at the Department of Molecular Pathology of  IHG PAS ( with up to 3 members of staff).I.  II. Requirements for candidates

  1. At least Ph.D. degree in medical or related sciences.
  2. Possession of significant scientific achievements in the field of basic medical sciences, human genetics, with particular emphasis on miRNA, lnRNA, etc.
  3. Experience in managing scientific projects.
  4. Having a scientific (research) project for at least two years period of founding, counted from the deadline for submission of proposals.
  5. Very good English language skills (oral and written)
  6. Long-term scientific internships would be an additional advantage.

 

III. A list of documents that the candidate should attach to the competition application

  1. CV and cover letter
  2. A brief description of the concept of the functioning of the SGB and the research and human resources programme which will be implemented at the SGB.
  3. A photocopy/scan of the academic title or degree award decision
  4. A list of publications including a maximum of five most important works, patent applications, patents, implementations, research projects.
  5. Information on the number of quotations of publications without auto-quotes, the value of the Hirsch index and the number of years effectively worked in science.
  6. A list of managed research projects
  7. Not exceeding 3 500 characters (1 A4 page) personal summary containing concise information about scientific interests, past achievements, possible participation in research projects and own research intentions.
  8. Consent to the processing of Candidate’s personal data for the purposes of the Competition (click here)
  9. The candidate’s statement that in case of winning the competition, the Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences will be his/her primary work place.

IV. Announcement of results: Up to 14 days after the deadline of documents submission

VI. Information on the  possibility  of  appeal  of  a  candidate  who  has  been  negatively  evaluated by the competition committee

Candidates who have been negatively evaluated by the Competition Commission have the right to  appeal  against  the  results  of  the  assessment.  The  appeal  is  submitted  to  the  Director  of  the  Institute within  7 days from the date of receipt of negative feedback from the Competition Commission. The decision of the Director of the Institute is final.
