The first meeting of the Committee on Human Genetics and Molecular Pathology PAS, 9/03/2020

On March 9, 2020, the first meeting of the Committee on Human Genetics and Molecular Pathology of the Polish Academy of Sciences took place, at which prof. dr hab. Witold Rużyłło handed members nominations for the 2020-2023 terms.

Prof. Michał Witt, director of the Institute of Human Genetics PAS was elected Chairman of the Committee, prof. Jerzy Bal from the Institute of Mother and Child became vice-chairmen, the Presidium included prof. dr hab. Andrzej Pławski and prof. dr hab. Ryszard Słomski from the Institute of Human Genetics PAS and Scientific secretary dr hab. Marlena Szalata from the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the University of Life Sciences in Poznań.Professor Witold Rużyłło handed to prof. Słomski thanks for chairing the Committee to date for the last three four-year terms. In addition, prof. Słomski was elected the Honorary Chairman of the Committee. The composition of the Committee was expanded to include a specialist, prof. IGC PAN dr hab. Natalia Rozwadowska from the Institute of Human Genetics PAS, who has been cooperating with the International Council for Laboratory Animal Science (ICLAS) for several years.

In the second part, dr Marek Posobkiewicz, Chief Sanitary Inspector presented current problems regarding coronavirus and the fight against it in the world and in Poland. In turn prof. Ryszard Słomski reported on the possibilities of using modified nanofilters to fight coronavirus.
