I am a graduate of the Faculty of Biology, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. After defending Master’s degree, I was employed at the Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań. During my PhD studies I became interested in genetic factors responsible for susceptibility to carcinogenesis induced by polycyclic hydrocarbons. After obtaining PhD in 1984, I continued study on contribution of Ah receptor in processes leading to development of cancer. I spent 5 months on a post-doc position in the Institute of Environmental and Occupational Medicine, Aarhus University, Denmark (1992) as well as I spent two years as a post-doc (1993-1995) and 1 year as visiting scientist (1998) in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Minnesota USA concentrating on crosstalk between Ah receptor and steroid hormone receptors signal transduction pathways. Afterward, I obtained the habilitation degree in 2007 for a series of publication entitled “ Importance of Ah receptor in regulation of response to xenobiotics”.
