Recruitment for the  NCN OPUS13 2017/25/B/NZ5/01131 project
‘Genetically corrected autologous myogented with nanocapsules as the next generation formula for treatment of Duchenne disease’

I. Requirements to be met by candidates

  1. The candidate at the start of the implementation of the tasks:
    • is a student of second-cycle full-time or part-time programmes provided by higher education institutions in the territory of the Republic of Poland;
    • is a student of at least the fourth year of full-time or part-time degree programmes of masters programmes provided by higher education institutions in the territory of the Republic of Poland;
    • shall be a PhD student, a participant of doctoral programmes provided by an authorised organisational body of a higher education institution, a research institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, a research institute or an international research institute operating in the territory of the Republic of Poland and established on the basis of separate legislation;
    • participates in the doctoral seminar and works on the preparation of the doctoral thesis
  2. Requirement
    • MSc diploma in Biotechnology, Nanotechnology or Chemistry;
    • knowledge of basic techniques of molecular biology, in vitro culture and basic laboratory skills;
    • experience in chemistry and/or nanotechnology;
    • proven scientific interest;
    • predisposition to work with animals;
    • availability 7 days a week for iPS cell culture requirements;
    • fluent English (oral and written);
    • ability to team working.
  3. During the period of receiving the scholarship, the Candidate will not receive any remuneration from the National Science Centre funds.
  4. During the period of receiving the study grant, the total amount of study grants financed by the National Science Centre will not exceed PLN 4. 5 thousand per month.

II.  Description of the tasks in which the Candidate will participate:

The candidate will participate in the interdisciplinary research related to the search for a modern therapeutic tool in the treatment of Duchenne’s disease. Research will include: advanced molecular techniques, in vitro cultures of myogenic cells from patients with dystrophy, iPS cells. In addition, the project includes pluripotent cell differentiation, genetic modification, genome editing, and animal testing.

III. In order to assess the predisposition, the candidate may be asked to complete a one-month internship at the Department of Reproductive Biology and Stem Cells  IHG PAS.

IV. Documents required:

  • A copy of the master diploma;
  • Scientific curriculum vitae including the list of publications and scientific achievements; lectures given, participation in research projects;
  • Letter of motivation.

V.  Conditions of employment:

  • Scholarship agreement;
  • Project duration 36 months;
  • Start of employment October 2018.
