The Director of the Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznan announces an open competition for the position of an assistant at the Department of Molecular and Clinical Genetics of the IHG PAS.

12. A concise description of the scientific research in which the candidate will participate:
Multiomics and functional studies using patient samples and in vitro models, aiming to identify the mechanisms of pathogenesis and progression of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), in particular to identify features with prognostic and therapeutic potential; the overarching goal of this research is the development of personalized medicine in T-ALL. The candidate will participate in research using data from omics analyzes pre-processed by a bioinformatician, the candidate’s task will be to analyze and interpret the data in biological terms. The candidate will participate in the implementation of research using molecular biology techniques and research using an in vitro model. The candidate will participate in the implementation of the OPUS project, funded by the National Science Center: Unraveling genes and mechanisms underlying relapse of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (2022/47/B/NZ5/00663).
II. Requirements for candidates:
1. PhD degree in the field of medical sciences,
2. Knowledge and skills in the field of genetics and epigenetics of human neoplasms, including hemato-oncological, molecular biology techniques (including PCR, RT-qPCR, Sanger sequencing, Western Blot, flow cytometry), good practical knowledge of genetic engineering techniques (CRISPR-Cas, cloning, vector designing) and cell culture (including cell transfection and transduction, functional analyzes designing and performing) and analyzes of biological data are required,
3. Research track supported by publications in international scientific journals in the discipline of medical sciences preferably in the field of cancer genetics,
4. Experience in writing grant applications, publishing and presenting research results,
5. International internships/trainings and documented international cooperation,
6. Fluent knowledge of English in speech and writing,
7. The ability to publicly present the results of scientific research in Polish and English,
8. Independence, high motivation for work in science, problem solving,
9. Ability to teamwork and good team communication,
10. Scientific achievements recognized in the form of awards and scholarships will be an additional asset,
11. Taking up work at the Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences as the primary place
of employment,

IV. Criteria for the evaluation of candidates
1. Creativity measured by the quality and number of scientific publications in which the candidate is the first author, corresponding author, or significant author, and patent applications / patents and/or implementations,
2. Mobility in scientific career (including academic internships, change of scientific profile, internships and work in industry),
3. Number of citations of the candidate’s works, especially those in which the candidate is the first author, corresponding or significant author,
4. Creativity measured measured by the quality and number of research projects,
5. Opinion of an independent researcher (R3),
6. Experience in laboratory work,
7. Expertise in the field of medical biology, mainly genetics and cancer biology, in particular in the field of hemato-oncology,
8. Motivation to work in science,
9. Good command of English,
10. Any breaks in the scientific work and indicated achievements of the candidate converted into effective years of scientific work.
V. Announcement of results
Up to 30 days from the deadline for submitting documents.
Selected candidates will be invited for an interview. Each of the submitted candidates will receive individual information about the results of the competition in relation to their person. Information on the winner of the competition will be provided on the Institute’s website.

VII. Information on the possibility of appeal of a candidate who has been negatively evaluated by the competition committee
Candidates who have been negatively evaluated by the Competition Commission have the right to appeal against the results of the assessment. The appeal is submitted to the Director of the Institute within 7 days from the date
of receipt of negative feedback from the selection board. The decision of the Director of the Institute is final.
