Regulations of the International Doctoral School
at the Institute of Human Genetics, PAS

The International Doctoral School at the Institute of Human Genetics, PAS has been established and operates on the basis on the provisions contained in the Institute’s Statute, the Act on the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Act on Law on Higher Education, the Act on Academic Degrees and Titles, and Degrees and Titles in the Field of Art as well as relevant Regulations of the Minister of Science and Higher Education. At the time of the establishment of the International Doctoral School at the Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań, the following legal acts and regulations were considered:

  1. The Act on the Polish Academy of Sciences of 30th April 2010 (Journal of Laws of 2016, item 572 as amended);
  2. The Act on Law on Higher Education of 27th July 2005 (Journal of Laws of 2016, item 1842 as amended);
  3. The Act on Academic Degrees and Titles, and Degrees and Titles in the Field of Art of 14th March 2003 (Journal of Laws of 2016 item 882 as amended);
  4. Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 10th February 2017 on education at doctoral studies at universities and research institutes (Journal of Laws of 2017 item. 256);
  5. Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education on conditions which must be met by the provisions of the regulations of studies at universities (Journal of Laws 2014 item 1302);
  6. Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 9th August 2017 on doctoral studies and fellowships (Journal of Laws of 2017 item 1696);
  7. Order no 8/2018 of the Director of the Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences of 28th March 2018 on the establishment of the International Doctoral School at the Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań.

I. General provisions

  1. Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań, hereinafter referred to as IHG PAS, conducts the International Doctoral School at the Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznan, hereinafter referred to as the International Doctoral School.
  2. The International Doctoral School operates in a full-time mode; doctoral studies are free of charge.
  3. The studies are conducted in the area of medical sciences and health sciences as well as sciences about physical culture, in the field of medical sciences, in the discipline of medical biology.
  4. A participant in the International Doctoral School, hereinafter referred to as a PhD candidate, may be a person who has a second degree qualification within the meaning of art. 2 para. 1 point 18g of the Act on Law on Higher Education or is a beneficiary of the “Diamond Grant” program, referred to in art. 187a para. 1 of this Act, in the field of biology or related sciences, hereinafter referred to as the “Diamond Grant” program and was qualified in the recruitment procedure.
  5. Classes are organized by the IHG PAS; and the Programme Council of the International Doctoral School is responsible for the proper organization of classes.
  6. The costs of the scholarship, remuneration for the participant of the International Doctoral School, costs of experimental work related to the doctoral dissertation and social security costs and general health insurance, under the conditions set out in separate regulations, are covered from the funds of the institution sending a PhD candidate to the International Doctoral School.
  7. Classees are conducted in English. The information is addressed to PhD candidates in a written form.
  8. The Scientific Council of the IHG PAS supervises the merit-based activities of the International Doctoral School. Organizational matters are in hands of the Head of the Doctoral School and with the administrative issues deals the Secretary of the Doctoral School. The Head of the Doctoral School is appointed by the Director of the Institute, after obtaining positive opinions of the Doctoral Students’ Board and the Institute’s Scientific Council.
  9. The academic year runs from October 1 to September 30 and is divided into two semesters, lasting respectively from October 1 to February 28/29 and from March 1 to September 30.
  10. The doctoral studies last 4 years.The studies may be completed in a shorter time than 4 years, provided all the requirements are met allowing to obtain 36 ECTS credits in accordance with the form of classes, the way to pass them and the score described in these Regulations. Recruitment of PhD candidates is conducted throughout the year.
  11. The Head of the Doctoral School, at the request of a PhD candidate, may extend the period of doctoral studies, at the same time releasing the PhD candidate from the obligation to participate in classes,
    if it is necessary to conduct long-lasting scientific research, carried out as part of these studies, in total not more than two years. The Head of the Doctoral School, at the request of a PhD candidate, may also extend the period of doctoral studies for not more than one year, at the same time releasing the PhD candidate from the obligation to participate in classes, in the case of: 1 / temporary inability to study due to illness,
    2/ need of personal care of a sick family member, 3 / need of personal care of a child under 4 or a child with a disability certificate, 4 / having a disability certificate.
  12. The Head of the Doctoral School, at the request of a PhD candidate, may additionally extend the period of doctoral studies for a period corresponding to the duration of maternity leave, leave on the conditions of maternity leave, paternity leave and parental leave specified in the Act of 26th June 1974 – Labor Code (Journal of Laws of 2016, item 1666, 2138 and 2255 and Journal of Laws of 2017 item 60 and 962), at the same time releasing the PhD candidate from the obligation to participate in the classes.
  13. The application for extending the period of doctoral studies includes:
    a) PhD candidate’s data: name, surname, PESEL number, and in the case of its absence – number of the document confirming the identity, and an indication of the year of doctoral studies;
    b) justification.
    To the application for the extension of the period of doctoral studies referred to in § 7 para. 1 of the Regulation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of 9th August 2017, the PhD candidate attaches the opinion of a scientific supervisor or a scientific supervisor and an auxiliary supervisor – in case of a PhD candidate participating in the program referred to in art. 26 par. 3f of the Act of 30th April 2010 on the principles of financing science.
  14. Financial resources for conducting doctoral studies are provided by the Institute of Human Genetics, PAS.
  15. A doctoral graduate, after obtaining the doctoral degree, the period of doctoral studies, not longer than four years, is included in the period of work on which the employee rights depend. This period also includes the period of full-time PhD studies if they have been terminated due to employment as an academic teacher or a researcher at scientific institutions.
  16. A person who has been accepted to doctoral studies acquires the rights of a PhD candidate at the moment of making an oath, the content of which is annexed to the Statute of the IHG PAS.

II. Recruitment for the International Doctoral School IHG PAS

  1. Recruitment for the International Doctoral School is done through a competition. The terms and recruitment procedure described are in these regulations. Recruitment is conducted throughout the year.
  2. Announcements about recruitment, with the deadline for submitting applications and the date and scope of the interview, are given to public information by: putting a notice on the notice board in the Institute, posting on the Institute’s website and at least one international platform and sending to universities and research institutes at least 2 weeks before the recruitment deadline.
  3. The recruitment procedure is carried out by the Recruitment Committee consisting of at least 4 people, selected from:
    a)  the Head of the Doctoral School;
    b)  the Institute’s Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs or a person designated by him;
    c)  the Head of the Department to which the PhD candidate is to be admitted or a person designated by him;
    d)  the supervisor of the doctoral dissertation;
    e)  another independent researcher of the IHG PAS or a member of the Institute’s Scientific Board coming from outside the Institute;
    f)    a representative of Doctoral Candidates’ Board.
  4. Admission to the International Doctoral School is conducted via the recruitment procedure, based on an interview encompassing issues in the field of medical sciences, in the discipline of medical biology, issues related to master’s thesis and assumptions for the planned doctoral project. Beneficiaries of the “Diamond Grant” program are also required to participate in the interview and to submit an appropriate application and documentation for the International Doctoral School.
  5. A candidate for a participant in the International Doctoral School is evaluated in a scale of 0-5, in three categories:
    a)  knowledge in the field of medical sciences,
    b)  methodical preparation,
    c)  coomand of English.
  6. The results of the recruitment procedure are public.
  7. A PhD candidate of another Doctoral School in Poland or abroad may join the International Doctoral School IHG PAS. In order to pass the ECTS credits obtained there, the candidate must present a certificate issued by the person heading the studies. These credits are verified by the Head of the International Doctoral School IHG PAS.
  8. The Recruitment Committee makes the decision on admission to the International Doctoral School IHG PAS. The decision of the Recruitment Committee may be appealed against, up to 14 days from the date of delivery of the decision, to the Director of the IHG PAS. The basis of the appeal may only be a breach of terms or recruitment procedure. The Director’s decision is final.
  9. When applying for admission to the International Doctoral School IHG PAS, the candidate should submit the following documents to the secretary’s office:
    1) a written application for admission addressed to the Director of the IHG PAS together with the motivation of intending to participate in the International Doctoral School,
    2) CV,
    3) a survey for candidates for the International Doctoral School,
    4) a copy of the diploma confirming the possession of the second degree qualifications within the meaning of Art. 2 para. 1 point 18g of the Act on Law on Higher Education or the status of the beneficiary of the “Diamond Grant” program, referred to in art. 187a para. 1 of the Act on Law on Higher Education,
    5) a personal data questionnaire with two ID photos,
    6) written consent of the future academic supervisor to take care of a PhD candidate,
    7)  written assurance about the source of funding for the scholarship and research, signed by the future academic supervisor and director / head of the instiution,
    8)  consent to the processing of personal data for the purposes of recruitment, The compliance of the data from the survey with the identity document will be verified – in the case of persons who are not Polish citizens.

III. Education at the International Doctoral School IHG PAS

  1. Education at the International Doctoral School IHG PAS includes an individual approach to PhD candidates, in accordance with the framework programme of the International Doctoral School at the IHG PAS approved by the Scientific Council of the IHG PAS (Appendix 1 to these Regulations).
  2. The programme of the International Doctoral School at the IHG PAS shall define the effects of education in the field of knowledge, skills and social competences (learning outcomes constitute Appendix 2 to these Regulations) as well as particular form of classes with ECTS credits.
  3. The framework programme of the International Doctoral School at the IHG PAS is attached as Appendix 1 to these Regulations. The detailed schedule of classes in a given semester is defined at least one month in advance and announced at the IHG PAS website in the International Doctoral School section.
  4. The programme of the International Doctoral School at the IHG PAS encompasses the following forms of activities:
    a)  doctoral seminars, counted on the basis of attendance list for at least 80% of classes;
    b)  basic lectures organized from the I to the IV year of studies; counted on the basis of the final written exam;
    c)  specialists lectures organized from the I to the IV year of studies; counted on the basis of the final oral exam;
    d)  optional lectures under the PhD candidates mobility program “Poznań MOST”or other classes in Poland or abroad, counted in accordance with the requirements of the teacher and certified in writing;
    e)  doctoral laboratory – theoretical and experimental work performed by a PhD candidate, in order to carry out the research being the subject of the doctoral thesis;
    f)  popularization of science in the form of a show or training, counted on the basis of a certificate
    about active participation in this activity;
    g)  supervision over a trainee or participation in the conduct of exercises for students – supervision over theoretical work, and supervision or  exercises in the laboratory;
    h)  co-authorship of a publication, counted on the basis of a letter from the editorial office informing on acceptance of the publication in the journal;
    i)  language course or self-study in English, with at least a good grade on the basis of the written and oral exam;
    j)  classes or self-study in the subject of humanities, counted with the grade at least good on the basis of an oral exam;
  5. To complete the International Doctoral School at the IHG PAS it is required to collect 36 ECTS credits within the meaning of art. 2 para. 1 point 18d of the Law on Higher Education. The total number of ECTS credits obtained is the sum of points for three basic lectures, three specialist lectures, five semesters of doctoral seminars, optional lecture outside the IHG PAS, credit for a selected subject mastered as part of self-education, in cooperation with a mentor, active participation in science popularization or supervision over a trainee (two activities in this field), three-year experimental or theoretical work, obtaining 4 ECTS credits within the chosen form of classes, including co-authoring of a publication, passing the modern language exam and the humanities exam. The schedule of classes should allow to obtain the required number of points during the four years of the International Doctoral School.
  6. In the case of a longer stay abroad, lasting at least 6 months, the completion of individual classes is also possible in other institutions conducting doctoral studies in Poland and abroad or – in the case of internships in institutions that do not conduct doctoral studies – take classes with a similar form and number of hours necessary to master the given issue. This credit is based on a certificate of subject, form, number of classes and the number of ECTS credits awarded, or the number of hours necessary to master a given topic. The document must be certified by the person conducting the classes or the person authorized. The documentation must be presented in English and accepted by the Head of the International Doctoral School at the IHG PAS.
  7. To pass the International Doctoral School at the Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań it is necessary to obtain over 50% of ECTS credits (minimum 18) as part of participation in the classes conducted at the International Doctoral School at the IHG PAS.
  8. The condition for obtaining the credit for the semester and the academic year is participation in the classes provided in the curriculum, conducting research, passing the exams specified in the curriculum, and reporting on the progress of the PhD candidate’s work, approved by the supervisor.
  9. Exams are assessed according to the following scale of grades:
    – very good
    – good plus
    – good
    – sufficient plus
    – sufficient
    – insufficient
  10. The results of the exams are sent by e-mail.
  11. For each PhD candidate performing a doctoral dissertation at the International Doctoral School IHG PAS, the Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC) is appointed. The ultimate goal of the creation and operation of the Thesis Advisory Committee is to ensure a high level of doctoral program. TAC monitors and periodically assesses the progress of research conducted by the PhD candidate and issues an opinion on further research directions. TAC is appointed by a PhD candidate’s scientific supervisor and consists of three members: a scientific supervisor, and two experienced scientific employees, eg principal investigators from the IHG PAS or other institutions. A member of TAC may also be another experienced person with a PhD degree. It may also be a foreign researcher, eg cooperating with the IHG PAS. The composition of the TAC is determined by the academic supervisor, after consultations with the PhD candidate. TAC is appointed during the first six months of participating in doctoral studies, and the first meeting should take place between 10 and 13 months after the start of the International Doctoral School by the PhD candidate. TAC meetings are convened once a year. The initiator of the meeting is the PhD candidate. During the first meeting, the PhD candidate should present his research hypothesis and progress in work on the project. S/He should prepare it in the form of a presentation and summary, sent to the TAC members before the meeting. The summary should contain the following parts:
    a) literature background justifying the importance of the undertaken research and its novelty in relation to the current state of knowledge,
    b) hypothesis or research question,
    c) specific research objectives,
    d) methodology in connection with each objective,
    e) the importance of the obtained results for science.
  12. A PhD candidate who does not fulfill his/her duties, does not complete the education program and, thus, does not receive a credit for the year of study, the Head of the International Doctoral School gives a negative grade. The negative grade is passed to the PhD candidate in a written form by the secretary’s office of the International Doctoral School. A PhD candidate may appeal against the decision to the Director of the Institute within 14 days from the date of its delivery. As a consequence of a negative consideration of the appeal by the Director of the Institute, the PhD candidate is struck off  from the list of doctoral students by the Head of the International Doctoral School.
  13. At the written request of the PhD candidate, including justification and positively evaluated by the supervisor, it is possible for the Head of the International Doctoral School to give a conditional permission to study in the next year or semester, subject to clarification of financial issues related to this permit and obtaining the consent of the Director of IHG PAS. In the same mode, doctoral studies may be resumed by a PhD candidate.
  14. The PhD candidate’s resignation from participation in the classes of the International Doctoral School at the IHG PAS is submitted in a written form to the secretariat of the International Doctoral School . The secretariat issues, and the Head signs a certificate about the classes passed by the PhD candidate and about the obtained number of ECTS credits.

IV. Doctoral scholarship

  1. The remuneration for a PhD candidate may come wholly or in part from various sources, such as employment under a job contract, doctoral scholarship financed from the Institute’s funds or research projects, contracts for specific works and other contracts. A PhD candidate can be a volunteer.
  2. A PhD candidate submits an application for granting a doctoral scholarship to the Head of the International Doctoral School. The application includes PhD candidate’s data: name and surname, PESEL number, and in the absence thereof – number of the document confirming the identity, and the year of doctoral studies, opinion of the supervisor – in the case of applying for a second and subsequent years of the International Doctoral School.
  3. Conditions to be met by a PhD candidate to obtain a doctoral scholarship from the IHG PAS funds are specified in the Regulations of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 9th August 2017 on doctoral studies and doctoral scholarships or any relevant new legal act. Scholarships are awarded for a period of 12 months, and a PhD candidate applying for a scholarship must submit an application for the scholarship to the Head of the International Doctoral School annually. A PhD candidate submits the application together with the report required at the end of the academic year.
  4. The scholarship from the IHG PAS funds is granted by the Director of the Institute, after giving the opinion for granting a scholarship by the Doctoral Scholarship Commission of the Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences, hereinafter referred to as the “Commission”. The Commission is appointed by the Director of the Institute. The Commission consists of: the head of the International Doctoral School and at least two scientific employees holding the postdoctoral degree( habilitation) and a representative of PhD students appointed by the Doctoral Students’ Board.
  5. In the case of extending the period of doctoral studies, the Director of the Institute may award a doctoral scholarship for this period.
  6. If a PhD candidate receiving a doctoral scholarship completed Doctoral School in less than the time specified in the act on the establishment of the International Doctoral School and obtained a distinguished evaluation of the doctoral dissertation, financial resources in the amount equal to the amount of monthly doctoral scholarship and the number of months by which the period of studies have been shortened shall be paid for the period remaining until the completion of Doctoral School, but no longer than 6 months.
  7. A PhD candidate who fails to fulfill his/her duties, does not pursue the education programme and, thus, will not get credit for a semester or year of study, the scholarship payment may be withheld. A suspension of the scholarship payment always takes place for a full month. A PhD candidate may appeal against this decision to the Director of the Institute. The Director’s decision is final. Resumption of the scholarship along with the repayment of the overdue benefit may take place only after catching up and obtaining a credit for the semester or the  academic year. The application for suspension of the scholarship is presented to the Director of the Institute by the Head of the International Doctoral School, after prior notification to the supervisor about this fact.
  8. A PhD candidate who has been struck off the list of participants of the International Doctoral School shall cease to pay the doctoral scholarship on the first day of the month following the month in which the decision became final.
  9. If the PhD candidate, with the consent of the Head of the International Doctoral School and the Institute’s Director, stays on a scientific internship abroad as part of unpaid leave, the scholarship is not awarded.

V. Duties of the Head of the International Doctoral School, supervisor, programme council

  1. The International Doctoral School is headed by the Head of Doctoral School appointed by the Director of the Institute, after obtaining positive opinions of the Institute’s Scientific Council and the competent authority of the Doctoral Students’ Board.
  2. The director asks the competent Doctoral Students’ Board and the Scientific Council with a request for expressing an opinion on the candidate within 14 days from the date of receipt of this application.
  3. The ineffective expiration of the period referred to in paragraph 2 is considered to be a positive opinion about the candidate for the Head of the International Doctoral School.
  4. The Head of the Doctoral School may be a person holding at least a postdoctoral degree (habilitation) or equivalent rights acquired on the basis of art. 21a of the Act of 14th March 2003 on academic degrees and academic title, and on degrees and title in the field of art (Journal of Laws of 2016, item 882, as amended), employed full-time at the Institute.
  5. If the condition of obtaining positive opinions of the competent Doctoral Students’ Board and the Scientific Council is not met in relation to two candidates nominated for the Head of the Doctoral chool, the Director appoints for this position a candidate who fulfills the requirements referred to in para. 4, who was not previously indicated as a candidate. The Head of the Doctoral School is dismissed by the Director of the Institute after consultations with the Scientific Council and the competent authority of the Doctoral Students’ Board.
  6. The Head of the Doctoral School:
    a) organizes the implementation of the doctoral programme,
    b) evaluates the implementation of the doctoral programme, including research conducted by PhD candidates,
    c) completes PhD candidates with subsequent years of doctoral school,
    d) performs the functions of the chairman of the doctoral scholarship committee of the IHG PAS.
  7. A scientific supervisor may be a researcher with at least a postdoctoral degree (habilitation) in a given or related scientific discipline and current scientific achievements published in the last five years or at least five years of experience in conducting research.
  8. The PhD candidate’s supervisor is obliged to:
    a) establish doctoral thesis topic at the beginning of doctoral studies,
    b) support the PhD candidate in the independent research work,
    c) present, after each semester, the Head of the Doctoral School the substantive evaluation of the PhD student’s work, in writing.
  9. In the case of the anticipated longer absence of a scientific supervisor, s/he is obliged to indicate the person who during his/her absence will look after a PhD candidate. This fact should be notified in writing to the Head of the Doctoral School.
  10. The Programme Council is appointed by the Director of the Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences. The Program Council approves the framework program of doctoral school, gives opinion on the purposefulness of lectures proposed by the Head of the Doctoral School, and presents its own proposals in this regard and supports their implementation.

VI. Duties and rights of a PhD candidate

  1. A PhD candidate performs scientific work under the direct supervision of a supervisor, an auxillary supervisor in the case of participating in the “Ph. D. Implementation Programme”. The PhD candidate is obliged to implement the education program, approved by the Scientific Council of IHG PAS. In addition, in consultation with the Head of the Department, s/he participates in the organizational and technical work of the Department in which s/he performs the doctoral thesis.
  2. The Institute of Human Genetics, PAS is obliged to enable participation in the International Doctoral School for disabled students and take care of them, appropriate to the nature of disability, provided that this disability does not prevent the implementation of theoretical and practical research work constituting the subject of the doctoral dissertation. Classes and consultations may in this case be conducted individually in a different mode than the one used for students without disability, e.g. with a higher participation of self-education or via Internet communication. Decisions on the nature and intensity of classes come from provided medical recommendations. In this regard, the Head of the International Doctoral School is obliged to consult the Director of the Institute and the supervisor of the doctoral dissertation.
  3. A PhD candidate is entitled to 8 weeks (ie 40 working days) of leisure break, which should be used during the period free from classes. Due to the need to perform an important part of scientific research during this period, the leisure break may be divided into parts. This break should be used in every year of doctoral studies.
  4. The PhD student’s scientific work is carried out at the time agreed with the academic supervisor according to the standards applicable to the IHG PAS employees.
  5. In justified cases, after a positive opinion of the PhD candidate’s application by the TAC referred to in Section III of these Regulations, the PhD candidate has the right to change the supervisor of a doctoral dissertation. The decision to change the supervisor is made by the Director of the IHG PAS after consulting the TAC.
  6. A PhD candidate has the right to participate in conferences, symposia, schools and other forms of research and education presentations, as well as the internships abroad according to the rules provided for the Institute’s employees if the supervisor considers this participation necessary for the PhD candidate’s scientific work. Failure to come to the IHG PAS after an agreed period of stay abroad, without applying for an extension of this stay, approved by the Director of the Institute and the Head of the Doctoral School, results in the removal from the list of participants of the Doctoral School.
  7. PhD candidates have the right to health insurance under the rules set out in separate regulations. The Institute pays health insurance upon a written application of a PhD candidate submitted to the secretary’s office of Doctoral School.
  8. A PhD candidate has the right to apply for additional scholarships provided for by separate regulations. Obtaining additional financial resources does not diminish the doctoral scholarship.
  9. PhD candidates as a group form a Doctoral Board. PhD candidates are represented by their representative(s). The Board determines the way of acting and, in secret elections, elects its representatives and the Peer Court.
  10. A PhD candidate receives an electronic PhD student ID card, for issuing the IHG PAS, in accordance with applicable regulations, charges fees.
  11. A PhD candidate who starts doctoral school shall submit a written statement of familiarization with the regulations of the school and the curriculum as well as the declaration on taking the oath. The text of the oath is attached as Appendix 3 to the Regulations.
  12. A PhD candidate is obliged to comply with all internal orders in force at the Institute.
  13. A PhD candidate bears disciplinary responsibility for violation of applicable provisions at the Institute and for acts that deny the doctoral student’s dignity. The disciplinary committee resolves the matter of violations of the regulations or discipline of a PhD candidate. Procedures for dealing with a disciplinary committee are governed by separate regulations. The PhD candidate has the right to appeal to the Director of the Institute against the decision of the disciplinary committee.
  14. At the request of a person who participated in the doctoral studies, the secretariat of the International Doctoral School issues a certificate signed by the Head of the Doctoral School about their course and the number of ECTS credits obtained.

Learning outcomes at the International Doctoral School
of the Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań

PhD candidates graduating from the International Doctoral School at the IHG PAS in Poznań achieve the following learning outcomes in terms of:

1. Knowledge

  • Have extensive knowledge of medical biology, with particular emphasis on human genetics,
  • Have advanced knowledge, taking into account the latest achievements in the areas, directly related to the subject of conducted research;
  • Know research techniques used in human biology, genetics and genomics, and are able to use them in their scientific work;
  • Are able to assess the value of research publications, research projects and posses knowledge concerning principles and possibilities of project funding,
  • Posses knowlegde in the field of ethics applicable in scientific activities.

2. Skills

  • Posses skills to independently search, analyse, select and evaluaate information from various sources of knowledge ,
  • Are able to critically analyse the results of scientific work related to conducted research,
  • Posses research skills enabling them publication of obtained results in renowed journals,
  • Posses skills enabling them transferring their knowledge during seminars, conferences and lectures for students,
  • Are able to prepare a research project independently.

3. Social competences

  • Are people involved in the scientific and sociala life,
  • Can serve with their knowledge the society in their field of expertise,
  • Are aware of their own research competences and are able to critically assess their level in relations to the standards dominant in the practiced field of knowledge and their own specialty,
  • Are aware of belonging to the scientific community and understand the need to represent their interests in society.
