10x Genomics Poland grant for Dr Katarzyna Kiwerska

Katarzyna Kiwerska, PhD from the Department of Cancer Genetics, has been awarded a grant from the “10x Genomics Poland Grant Program” to perform a pilot study on salivary gland pleomorphic adenomas.

The project involves spatial transcriptome profiling of four samples derived from pleomorphic adenomas with different clinical course (fast-growing vs. slow-growing tumors). The experiment will be performed using the Visium CytAssist device in formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissue. The study aims to show the heterogeneity of analysed tissue samples and to identify genes differentiating both groups, particularly focusing on predicting fast growth, which poses a risk for the patient.

The project will be supported by Institute’s Innovative Medical Center. The materials and reagents for the study will be provided by Analytic Genetics,  distributor of 10x Genomics products.
