In 1997-2002 Marzena Gajecka has worked on DNA breakage and repair, role of polymorphisms in chosen genes and chromosomal aberrations induced by bleomycin and B(a)P in laryngeal cancer subjects.

Currently, she is assessing in details chromosomal aberrations and mechanisms of chromosomal rearrangements in cases with 1p36 microdeletion syndrome.

Her main scientific interest is in genetic diseases of the eye, keratoconus and high grade myopia particularly.

In addition, since 2012, Marzena Gajecka has worked on chosen microbiology aspects, microbiome characteristics, including ocular surface microbiota and other pharmaceutical microbiology aspects.
